Ah, the engagement season. A beautiful and important time for you and your fiance, with lots to plan.
My husband and I have been married for three years now (and have two precious littles!). We did a lot of marriage preparation during our seven-and-a-half-month engagement, but still felt a little overwhelmed with both marriage and wedding prep. Below are things we would buy if we were engaged in 2026.
1. A beautiful wedding planner
Everyone loves beautiful things. And if you're a paper lover, you'll want a beautiful planner. Not only will it help you stay organized, you'll actually want to use it if it's pretty.
2. A couple's devotional
This is a must-have! With thoughtful questions, the space to actually answer them, and reflections on the beauty of marriage, a couple's devotional gets you on the same page before you even say "I do."
3. Calligraphy / fountain pens
Useful for thank you cards or addressing your invitations. We used fountain pens for both. It's your wedding--why would you use a ball-point pen?
4. Good coffee
Not stationery-related, but it is 2026, our country's semiquincentennial! La Colombe is great quality coffee and it's really cool they're doing an America 250 special edition.
5. A good candle
Also not stationery-related but in my experience, a sweet-smelling candle adds such coziness to any routine or task. Every morning, I light a candle and read my Bible and plan my day before the kiddos are up. This brand is my favorite, too. Poured right here in America and no crazy chemicals. Light this candle when you're figuring out who to cut from your invitation list and I promise you'll feel a little better.
6. Custom thank you cards with your address on the envelope
Another must-have. You will save SO much time not having to re-write your address on every thank you note you send. And there will be endless thank you notes sent.
